Kappa Alpha Theta

Beta Iota Chapter University of Colorado

Chapter History

The Beta Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta has been a part of the University of Colorado for almost 100 years. Our chapter was established in Boulder in 1921 and we haven't left this home ever since the first Beta Iota's moved in!

Our home is located next to Varsity Lake and Starbucks, it is only a short walk away from not only campus but also Pearl Street and several of the restaurants on the Hill. A new addition of the house was added in 1969, raising the amount of live-ins to a maximum capacity of 79 girls. The live-in girls love the newly redone bathrooms, which includes ten beautifully tiled showers and a bathtub. Kappa Alpha Theta also has the largest parking lot out of any sorority on campus (which is definitely something we all appreciate)! If you can't find girls watching Netflix on the TV landing or painting in the craft basement, there will definitely be a group of sisters laying out on the sundeck or hanging out in the kitchen. Bonding and catching up over meals such as "Pasta Bar Night" (a chapter favorite) is something we love to do especially with our fabulous chef, Trey, behind the scenes.

Alongside our amazing sisters and chef, our home would not be complete without our wonderful house mom Joye. We are so lucky to have Joye not only as a house mom but also as our friend. Whether she is decorating the house for holidays or eating Sunday brunch with us, she is a big part of our home here in Boulder.
