Chapter Service & Philanthropy
Each year, Theta holds philanthropy events to benefit CASA, including KATwalk every spring and KATs and Dogs coming up in Fall 2018 (see CASA tab for more information on the organization). This fall we participated in Kappa Alpha Theta's National Day of Service by picking up trash at Boulder Creek, making sandwiches for the homeless in our area, and writing encouraging notes to members of our campus.
Our spring philanthropy, KATWalk, is the biggest event we put on each year! KATWalk is a fashion show where we strive to get as many organizations (Greek and non-Greek) on campus involved as possible. There are two-five "models" from every Greek house on campus, as well as other student groups, that walk in the show and perform a small routine. Each team has two-three Thetas as "model coaches" to help them get their routine together. Events like these are a great way to raise money for such an amazing cause (as all the proceeds go directly to CASA), and they are a lot of fun to put on as well! In March 2018 we were able to raise $12,000 through this year's KATwalk, themed Thetapalooza, inspired by music festivals. This money was donated to Voices for Children, the Boulder CASA chapter.
